This episode, titled Messy as F**k, is pure gold for anybody who has ever had a dream about doing and being more than what they are currently doing. It reminds me of where I was ten years ago. In 2007, I distinctly remember sitting in the parking garage of my workplace and dreading walking inside. Though the job was one most people would kill to have, it was psychologically suffocating me. My money was right, but everything just...wasn't.
Issa was dealing with something similar here. She is feeling unfulfilled at work and it is obvious to just about everyone but her. I imagine a lot of entrepreneurs feel this way before stepping out on faith. Her boyfriend is also struggling with his professional goals - he is working on his business plan for his own business while simultaneously interviewing for jobs. What are they to do, and what can we learn from them?
I've included my twitter thoughts for the #PopCultureClass from Season 1, Episode 2 of Insecure below. You can also check them out on Storify.
My favorite message here is from the last tweet: "Lawrence: "You know I'm working on my business plan..." Issa: "I got a plan...start a business!" Soooo true. I know people who have been working on their business plan for years but can't seem to take the next step.
What's your favorite lesson from this episode?
